My top pick for the best state to establish domicile as an RVer is Florida. It’s super easy for RVers to establish domicile in Florida because there are tons of mail forwarding services, a good tax situation (no state income tax), and who can say no to the beautiful beaches of Florida?

Florida
As I said above, Florida is a great place to establish domicile. That’s because of the reasons I mentioned above—the tax situation and mail forwarding services—but it’s also because I am from the east coast. It’s pretty easy to get to anything on the east coast coming from Florida.
People in Florida are more than happy to have another RVer there stimulating their economy, so don’t worry about that.
Texas
If you like to be close to Mexico so you can take your RV on vacation, then this is a great place to establish domicile as an RVer. Of course, you don’t have to stay there, but you do have to establish your doctors and other important things in the state so they can tell that you’re actually a resident. Texas is another state where you don’t have to worry about big taxes and complicated rules for people that want to RV full-time.
South Dakota
South Dakota is a beautiful state, and that’s a big plus. You can go back to get your doctor’s checkups and other things in a beautiful place, but there is another perk to South Dakota. There aren’t as many natural disasters in South Dakota, so if you want to get less expensive car insurance, you might want to opt for this state to be your domicile.

As you can tell, there are a lot of good things about all three of these states. And the reason I didn’t bring any other states into play is that most of the other states have some kind of requirement that you live in them for so many days a year in an apartment or house if you want to establish domicile.
See which one works best for you and which part of the country you’d like to be near the most, and go with that one. I’d steer clear of the other states, but either of the above three is pretty solid.
