When you want to find free camping, the last thing you want to do is wade through horrible apps. “What is the best free camping app?” you might ask.

The best free camping app is Campendium. Campendium is trusted by many RVers and helps you find the best free camping sites so you can save money and enjoy amazing views.

Why Campendium Is Such a Great Free Camping App

You can definitely find free camping on your own. But why would you want to? When you use Campendium, you have a massive group of experienced and helpful campers guiding you to the best spots so you can have the same fun that they had.

The cool thing about Campendium is that you can see when someone added a photo or information as well as which user added it.

Yeah. This isn’t free camping because it is in my beautiful state of Tennessee where it is very difficult to find free RV parking.

However, if you look into places like South Dakota, they have some pretty amazing free RV camping sites.

You can see how many stars each of the locations you want to visit has. Read the comments and see if the negative reviews are anything you care about.

The person that parked there for free might have just been there at the same time as a camper that didn’t have any respect and that could have caused some serious annoyances and a negative review. If that was the case, you might not have to deal with that at all.

Campendium Continues to Improve Over the Years

Campendium isn’t one of those apps that just lets itself go. I love that they continue to make their app better and better so more campers can enjoy their camping experiences with less stress.

Even though Campendium is a great free campsite app, there are some other apps you might want to consider as well.

Free Campsite Campendium Alternatives

For those of you that don’t like Campendium for whatever reason, you should check out these free campsite apps.

The Dyrt

The Dyrt allows you to see both free, public, and private campgrounds and there is a free and paid version.

You can book stays on the site as well as look at the photos and videos from different campgrounds to see how they look and if people liked them.

FreeCampSites.net

If you want to find some free spots to stop for one night then FreeCampSites.net is a great option. It’s not super attractive but it works and can get you out of a bind when you aren’t where to camp.

Harvest Hosts

Harvest Hosts is a neat app that allows you to connect with places that give you a free place to stay. I’ve seen some of the most unique spots on this app, but you should be ready to buy something when you stay at a winery or other place that has a store. The app is a paid app but it’s cheaper to pay for the app and not for the RV parking.

What Is the Best Free Camping App? – Frequently Asked Questions

I figured you might have a few more questions. Check out these frequently asked questions and walk away a bit wiser.

Hip Camp is very similar to Airbnb but it’s for camping. However, these are all paid camping opportunities.

Is the DYRT app free?

Is the Campendium app free?
