Are you asking, “How long does it take to get an RV after ordering it?”
When you order an RV from the factory, you’ll have to wait at least a couple of months. Depending on how difficult it is to get parts for the RV, it may even take longer than that.
Waiting for your RV might be the most annoying thing you’ve ever done. You want to camp in it now, but it’s hanging out at a factory being built. However, it’s pretty cool to order an RV from the factory and to be able to get it exactly how you want it.
I wouldn’t trust the dealer one hundred percent when they tell you how long it will take before your get your RV when ordering it from the factory because they are trying to make a sale. However, if you call the factory, they can give you an idea of how long it will take for your RV to get to you from the factory. Most of the factories produce in volume so they should be able to let you know the length of time it will take until you get your RV from the factory.
I wrote an article about whether or not it is better to buy an RV from the factory or not that might provide some insight. Some people don’t like to wait, and it’s easier for them to buy from a dealer or a private party. I think it would be great to order from a factory, but I’ve always bought from a dealer. And by always, I mean twice.
During the shutdown, everything was a little crazier, so thankfully, things are much closer to being back to normal again. You don’t have to worry about not getting your RV for a year anymore.
Work with People You Trust
When you go to order an RV, make sure you trust the people you’re working with. You’ll be in contact with these people quite a bit. If you don’t like them and trust them, you’ll have a really annoying time going through on the way to RV ownership.
Most big manufacturers have their game down pretty well and you’ll work with people that are both knowledgeable and personable.
Conclusion
As long as you’re willing to wait to get your RV, ordering factory direct is a good option. If you don’t like waiting, then you should drive down to your local dealership and grab one off the lot, but you’ll likely find you’ll have to wait at least 2 months after ordering to get your RV.
