Do I Have to Stop at Weigh Stations with an RV?

You see a bunch of 18-wheelers stopping at weigh stations. You might ask, “Do I have to stop at weigh stations with an RV?”

No. This is especially true if your RV setup is less than 10,000 lbs. There are some rare cases that you might have to go through a weigh station but all you have to do is follow their instructions and you’ll be good to go.

If you want to know how much your RV weighs, you should go to a cat scale. Don’t try going through a weigh station to get the weight on your RV. You’ll just annoy someone working at the weigh station.

For those of you that have extra heavy RVs, you need to make sure you know the laws along your specific travel route. When I say extra heavy, I mean 26,000 or more lbs.

Now that your mind is at ease knowing you don’t have to worry about RV weigh stations, why not check out one of our other RV-related articles?
