In this Champion 3400-watt inverter generator review, I am going to go over my real-life experience with this generator. We used it when the power went out at RV parks, when we went boondocking and needed electricity and when our RV battery lost charge so we couldn’t open our slideout.
I highly recommend this Champion 3400-watt inverter generator because we used it in our RV travels and I know from personal experience that it works amazingly.
This generator saved us from burning due to lack of air conditioning or not being able to cook quite a few times. Works great.
- Nice run time
- Dual-fuel
- Great brand name
- Lightweight enough for the watts
- Parallel capable
- Not totally budget-friendly
Overview of this Champion 3400-Watt Inverter Generator
How we came to know about this generator was by talking to one of our RV park neighbors. We were in Wachula, Florida at the Thousand Trails RV park there.
We were in the market for a generator but we weren’t sure which type we should get or what we should look for. It was all confusing but we needed to make a decision.
The neighbor had his running and we could hardly hear it. My husband and the gentleman were having a conversation and standing right by it.
Features of the Champion 3400-Watt Inverter Generator
You know that I am a fan of this generator but let’s get into the features of this inverter generator.
- Quick Touch Panel
- Super Quiet Operation
- Clean Electricity to Avoid Frying Sensitive Electronics
- Ready for Parallel
- Dual Fuel (Gas or Propane)
- Lifetime Champion Support
The quick touch panel makes it easy to access the controls in one spot without confusion.
The super quiet operation at 59 dBA allows you to enjoy your RV trip without having to have a loud generator in your ear.
Clean electricity makes it easy for you to plug in your cell phone, laptop, iPad, or other sensitive devices without worrying about frying anything. 120V 30A locking with RV adapter. You also have 120V 20A household outlets with less than 3% THD and a 12V DC outlet with battery charging cables.
When you need more power, you can connect to one or more 2800-watt inverters with the optional parallel kit.
Dual fuel abilities make it easy for you to power your generator with either propane or gas. Also, keep in mind that running this inverter generator on propane is a lot less expensive than running it on gas.
Champion 3400-Watt Inverter Generator Power Output
When you use this inverter generator, it will push 3400 starting watts and then 3100 running watts. You can run pretty much anything in your RV. We used the air conditioner and plugged in phones and other small appliances.
We found that trying to run the microwave and the AC at the same time was a bit of a challenge since we had other stuff plugged in as well. That is definitely a lot to ask of one generator.
Champion 3400-Watt Inverter Generator Benefits
There are a lot of great benefits to this inverter generator so if you’re looking for a generator that is going to make your life a lot easier, this one is the one.
Ease of Use
If you run out of gas and need to use propane—you can. I love that it is dual fuel and it made things a lot better for us when we were traveling.
The push-button start is another great thing. If your arm doesn’t do well with the pull-start then this is a great inverter generator for you. There is the option to start it with recoil but we never needed to use it.
Weight and Portability
The wheels and the pull handle make it easy to tote around so you don’t hurt your back. Since it does have a dry weight of 81 pounds, you don’t want to try to pick it up by yourself unless you feel confident with your lifting abilities.
Ability to Accessorize
Champion goes all in when it comes to accessories. Here is what you get:
- Oil funnel
- Battery charging cable
- 2.3-foot long propane hose
- USB adapter
The Bottomline for the Champion 3400-Watt Inverter Generator Review
It is obvious to see that our family loved the Champion 3400-watt inverter generator. It gave me a sense of safety. I enjoy the outdoors but I don’t love feeling like I might not have electricity. I work from home and need internet and power. This is an inverter generator you can depend on.

It is a little on the pricey end of things, but it’s not as bad as some of the inverter generators I’ve seen. With the Champion support (for a lifetime), it’s really a no-brainer in my book.
